Chadwick, age 12, of Valley City, ND, earned his wings Sunday, October 2, 2016 from an accident at his grandparents’ residence in Sanborn. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 7th at 3:30 PM at Barnes County North School. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 6th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sanborn, ND from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and one hour before the service at the school on Friday afternoon. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the church. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery near Sanborn, ND.
Ethan Chadwick was born Oct. 10, 2003, in Jamestown, ND, to Amanda Chadwick and Jerod Altringer. Ethan attended school in Jamestown, ND, North Central, Litchville, ND, and at Barnes County North. He was very active in BMX bike activities at skate parks in Valley City and Fargo. Ethan enjoyed archery and attending state archery, and played basketball at North Central School. He had a passion for building derby cars with his dad, racing go karts, 4-wheelers, helping Grandpa Bill with his pay loader and dozer services, and everything camo. He recently found joy in the robotics classes at Barnes County North School. Ethan also enjoyed his time attending Sunday School, confirmation and volunteering at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Sanborn. Ethan had a special relationship with his sister, Alexa. He was often protective, teaching her everything, letting her follow him everywhere. She would always want to do what Ethan did and he would tend to rope her into his shenanigans. Ethan was an empathetic young man; always caring about others and putting himself in other people’s shoes. He was smart, witty, and a bit of a jokester. Even though he could be fearless and a bit of a troublemaker, he always maintained his respect for law enforcement, trusted them and made them his friends. Ethan was a regular at J&L Bar & Grill in Sanborn, ordering his usual of orange juice. It was also here he would get to know many of the local farmers, schmoozing them for info on weather damage and the outlook of their crops.
Ethan is survived by his parents, Amanda (Terry Hollinshead) Chadwick, Valley City, and Jerod (Jana Fillbrandt) Altringer, Sanborn; sister, Alexa; half-sister, Emma; grandparents, Sandy (Robert) Opp, Jamestown, Keith (June) Chadwick, Eldridge, ND, and Bill and Jeanine Altringer, Sanborn; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and his many friends and classmates.
Ethan was preceded in death by great-grandparents Dick and Luella Amann and great-aunt Vicki Chadwick.
