(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School volleyball team has a thing for sweeping the opposition.

Once again, the Tornadoes earned a three games to none victory, this time in Class B District 5 play, defeating Midkota 25-16, 25-13 and 25-14 to improve to 4-1 in the district and 22-4 overall.

The Tornadoes has a total of 41 kills, with Nicole Schmitz picking up 14 and Shelby Roney earning 13. Oakes also registered seven aces throughout the contest, with Abby Forward’s three leading the team.

Oakes steps out of district competition when they head to Lisbon to face the Broncos on Thursday night. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts around 7 p.m.
