City, ND (Newsdakota.com)- The Vikings struggled on both sides of the line scrimmage,suffering a 34-7 loss to #15 Dickinson State University Saturday afternoon at Shelly Ellig Field.The Blue Hawks have now taken the season series from VCSU and improve to 4-1 and 2-0 in The NSAA while The Vikings move to 2-3 and 1-1 in conference play.

After a scoreless 1st quarter DSU broke the game open in the 2nd with 17 points. Cody Johnson hit a 21 yard field goal and Hayden Gibson connected with Jamion Lindsey and Chase Anderson for touchdowns. Johnson made both PATs.The Blue Hawks would add 14 points in the 3rd and Johnson had 23 yard field goal in the 4th. Valley City State scored with 3:18 left in the game on a touchdown reception from Josh Tovar. Harrison Hammel got the PAT.

VCSU put up 187 yards of offense to Dickinson’s 504.Louis Quinones had 8 carried for 45 yards. Kurtis Walls was 21 of 37 passing with 118 yards and a touchdown. Zach Schmidt had 36 yards receiving.The Blue Hawks’ Jed Fike had 2 TDs with 168 yards on 9 carries.Quarterback Hayden Gibson was 13 of 17 with 124 yards and 2 TDs.

Nicholas McBeain was the games lead tackler with 18.Jawuan Pugh and Jesus Munoz each had 10 and Andre Peppers 9.Pugh and Travon Smith had interceptions.

 VCSU will be on the road for the next 2 weeks traveling to Mayville Saturday. Kick off is at 2.
