(NewsDakota.com) The second match for the Oakes High School volleyball team this week netted yet another sweep; this time in Class B District 5 play as they took down the Bison of Barnes County North three games to none Thursday night.

It wasn’t the best start for the hometown Tornadoes, as they were down 14-5 in the first set, but they eventually won the match by scores of 25-23, 25-13 and 25-23.

Oakes as a team had seven aces and 33 kills. Nicole Schmitz picked up 12 kills in the victory.

Oakes is now 16-3 and 3-1 in District 5, while BCN falls to 6-9  and 1-3 in District 5. The Tornadoes hit the road for their next district affair when they visit Midkota Tuesday night to face the Mustangs of Midkota/Kensal. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts around 7 p.m.
