N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A number of residents and city staff members were present when the council made the announcement that they would be moving forward with Renaissance Recycling Tuesday afternoon.
The issue of curbside recycling has been a discussion for most of 2016 and the city council made the recommendation that they approve and move forward with negotiations on the Renaissance Recycling bid. City Administrator Jeff Fuchs reported that Jamestown would recycle an estimated 1,300 to 2,000 tons annually.
Fuchs further explained that the costs estimated were based off the amount it would be to pay for the services including Pay As You Throw and a new fee for disposal at the landfill.
Mayor Katie Andersen stated that the proposal they based the numbers off of was for Renaissance Recycling, which is the bid that the council expressed that they would like to move forward with.
Mayor Andersen reported that the numbers given were not final and would be refined as the finalization of negotiations neared. Jamestown Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Becky Thatcher-Keller thanked the council with their approval.
The committee made recommendations to start contract negotiations with Ralph Friebel and Renaissance. They hope to have curbside implemented by July 2017 in Jamestown.
