(Jimmie Athletics) – The Jimmie men’s golf team is in third place after the first round of the fall North Star Athletic Association Championship.
The fall tournament is being played at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club in Albert Lea, Minn., and the final two rounds will be held in April.
Jamestown is 9 shots behind Bellevue (Neb.), who leads the field with a score of 308. Valley City State (N.D.) is second at 314 and Viterbo (Wis.) University is fourth at 322.
Nathan Kapaun (JR/Fargo, N.D.) and Jacob Rice (SO/Mitchell, S.D.) carded the top score for UJ Monday, as both finished with a 6-over par 78. Diego Gudino of Bellevue and VCSU’s Kyle Wiebe are tied for the lead at 2-over par 74.
Mitch Hagenson (SR/Staples, Minn.) is one of four golfers tied for 8th at 7-over 79. Austin Rene (FR/Jamestown, N.D.) is in a three-way tie for 16th at 10-over 82 and Nolan Frank (JR/Sartell, Minn.) is tied for 25th at 16-over 88.

Jenna Knutson (SO/Boulder, Colo.) and Savanna Nesemeier (JR/Kindred, N.D.) are tied in 16th place after first rounds of 93. Dana Rial (SO/Colorado Springs, Colo.) is 19th after her 95, and Alexis Piatz (SO/Oxbow, N.D.) 20th, three shots behind Rial at 98.
