N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It was a milestone day for both the residents and staff members of the Anne Carlsen Center Friday.

It’s been 75 years since the Anne Carlsen Center was created. The center has since expanded from 18 members in 1941 to over 2,000 in 2016. Director of Education Michelle Well reported that they had a full class as well this year in Jamestown.

Well also reported that they work closely with the Jamestown Public School System to allow students to get the maximum education possible by breaking down barriers.

One of the members helping those students break down those barriers is Sheila Ova. She’s been working with the Anne Carlsen Center for 29 years.

CEO Eric Monson says the Anne Carlsen Center has worked towards helping integrate their members into the community and that their donors have made that possible.

The day wrapped up with a showing of “Dumbo” which is also celebrating 75 years.
