(NewsDakota.com) In arguably their toughest and longest match of the 2016 season, the Oakes High School volleyball team held on and picked up a hard fought 3-2 home victory Thursday night against the Mustangs of South Border.

Oakes won on homecoming night by scores of 25-23, 27-29, 25-19, 19-25 and 15-11. Both teams had an incredible 61 kills each, and Oakes was lead by Nicole Schmitz with 21 kills. The Tornadoes managed a total of 10 aces.

The Tornadoes return to the floor on Tuesday when they head east to Forman to face the Cadets of Sargent Central. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts around 7 p.m., with the start of the match set for 7:15.
