N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Superintendent of the Carrington School District Dr. Brian Duchscherer gave an update on the school system Wednesday.

During KDAK’s “Here’s What’s Happening” segment with Greg Grenz, Superintendent Duchscherer gave updates on several items with in the district. One of the first few items was reports from principals at the both the Elementary School and High School. Duchscherer stated that Elementary School Principal Januita Short reported on a new program they have.

Duchsherer also reported on last year’s High School ACT test scores. He stated that Principal David Nowatzki came back with great numbers in those tests.

Duchscherer pointed out that the scores really showed how well the staff and faculty were preparing students for graduation and college.

In other school news, the High School boiler system is being replaced with one boiler, which will heat up the entire High School and new Elementary School addition once it’s built.

Duchscherer pointed out that they’ll look at removing one boiler at a time and transition into the new system. They hope to have the new system installed by late November. He also reported that architects continue to interview staff and design the new Elementary School.

The new drawings and designs will be posted on the school’s website once they are finished and updated. One final thing the Carrington School Board discussed was fall enrollment, to which Superintendent Duchscherer reports that the numbers are close to what they estimated going into the new year.
