CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) Valley City officials are mulling over a decision as to whether the city should participate in the Red River Water Supply contract being set up by the Garrison Diversion Conservancy to bring Missouri River water to eastern North Dakota during a severe drought.

AES2 engineer Steve Burian told the commission that the federal plan was scrapped years ago but a state controlled project is very much alive.

Garrison Diversion Conservancy staff member Merri Mooridian and Burian presented their plan to the city commission during a city finance meeting on September 6th. They gave reporter Steve Urness an overview of the plan in this interview.

Valley City and other cities have to make a decision as to whether or not they plan to sign a contract to be a participant by the October 1st deadline.
