Coaches Comments

We played two very tightly contested matches in two days including 5 3-set matches and 6 tiebreakers.  With splitting over the two days, we find ourselves at 3-3 on the season and tied for 5th in the EDC at the midpoint of our regular season.

Our team is learning and growing together.  Having all underclassmen that are very coachable, we are improving by leaps and bounds.  Even in a one match frame, we grow.  If Collin and Zach played against Mandan the same way they played Fargo North, we would have lost their doubles match and ultimately the meet against Mandan.  As they improved from that match, we won today.  Riley took what he learned yesterday in his three-set loss and used it today leading to a three-set victory.

Hunter is frustrated with losing, but he has improved so much by playing all the top players in the EDC along with now a #1 from the West.  Austin is close to being a solid singles player.  When he believes, he is a true varsity player.  Continue believing and playing to win Austin!

Liam and Trevor played doubles for the first time together today – and Liam for the first time ever at the varsity level – and they cruised to an easy victory.  Jack improved his doubles play over yesterday playing with Hale who tutored him and served marvelously.  Josh and Bennett tried taking the net over more in the doubles and it worked.

These same 11 players will be in action at the West Fargo Invite tournament Saturday starting a 9am.  It is a flighted tournament with 6 singles draws and 3 doubles draws that includes every team in the state.
