N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Heavy rains and wind struck the James River Valley and most of North Dakota Wednesday afternoon.
The Bismarck National Weather Service reported that roughly .75 inches of rain fell in Jamestown in roughly 30 minutes. Other areas say upwards of one inch or more. Meteorologist Jeff Schild reports that there were some hail and high wind gusts as well.
Schild pointed out that more damage was reported in the Southeastern part of the state. He said there was a chance for some storms heading into the weekend, but the storms would be a lot lighter.
Rick Bohn of Medina snapped a picture of the shelf cloud at around 4 PM. He was able to stitch together 5 photos to show a roughly 25 mile long shot of the cloud.
Gene Hanson of Edgeley reported that lightning struck two trees near his home. He said parts of the tress were found nearly 75 feet away and power went out for nearly one hour.
