N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota dignitaries made the announcement last week that JRMC would be keeping its critical access care status.
According to Senators John Hoeven & Heidi Heitkamp, along with Representative Kevin Cramer, CMS finalized its decision to maintain JRMC as a Critical Access hospital. JRMC Administrators were brought together and found that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will keep the critical access in Jamestown.
“Families in rural communities rely on the top-notch service provided every day by the dedicated medical professionals at Jamestown Regional Medical Center – that’s why I pushed to finalize its status as a Critical Access hospital,” said Heitkamp. “From routine check-ups to around-the-clock emergency services, families count on the JRMC to provide the range of services that are often unavailable at the State Hospital.”
Representative Kevin Cramer reports that he’s glad the issue has been resolved.
“I am pleased this misunderstanding has been resolved and the Jamestown Regional Medical Center will continue as a Critical Access Hospital providing crucial services to the Jamestown area. This designation helps hospitals reduce their financial vulnerability and keep essential services in rural communities.”
One requirement of a hospital receiving CAH status is that another hospital is not located within 35 miles, which is the case with the Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
