N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–The Carrington girls VB team went 5-0 and cruised to the 2016 Lakota Invitational Tournament title on Saturday. The Cards defeated Midkota in the championship match 25-13 and 25-8 to claim the title. The Cards were down 9-2 in the opening set to the Mustangs but outscored Midkota 48-12 from that point. Carrington connected on 49-50 serves in the title match and six different players combined for 21 kills to lead a balanced offensive attack.

Earlier in the tourney, the Cards defeated Rolla-Rock Lake 2-0 (25-15, 25-8), Devils Lake JV 2-0 (25-15, 25-12), Lakota 2-0 (25-16, 25-17), and New Rockford-Sheyenne in the semifinals 2-0 (25-13, 25-8). The Cardinals improved to 7-0 overall on the season and will travel to Edgely on Thursday to play the Rebels of Edgely-Kulm.
