N.D. (AP) — Gov. Jack Dalrymple has proclaimed September as Suicide Prevention Month in North Dakota.
The state Health Department says it is encouraging residents to take advantage of awareness events and speakers scheduled in September.
The agency says suicide is the No. 2 cause of death for young people, ages 10 to 24 and the ninth-leading cause of death for all age groups in North Dakota.
The agency says there were 137 suicides last year in North Dakota.
