AL (NEWSDAKOTA.COM)-Wilbur Gabel and his grandson Noah Gabel (13) along with his great grandson Kyler Neilson (10) recently traveled to Montgomery Alabama to compete in the 2016 World Horseshoe Pitching Tournament. Kyler making his second World Tournament came away with the class B Cadet World Championship after going undefeated 9-0 in two days of competition. He averaged 40% ringers.
Both Wilbur and Noah are past world champions but this year Wilbur placed 8th and Noah placed 6th in their classes. All three are making plans for next year’s World Tournament in St. George, Utah
Wilbur and his grandsons, and his 7 year old granddaughter Uria, will be competing in the North Dakota State Singles Championships in Fargo this weekend and Doubles Championships in Jamestown the following weekend. Noah will be defending his State Junior title from last year and Wilbur is past champion in both doubles and singles. Kyler placed second last year in the Cadet singles and Uria will be competing in her first State Tournament.
