N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  The Cardinals kicked off their 2016 season at home on Tuesday night against their old rivals, the Hornets of Harvey/Wells County.  Carrington swept the Hornets 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-19).  The Cardinals are 1-0, HWC drops to 2-3.

Senior outside hitter Maara Nelson led the Cardinals with 17 kills, a match high, and 15 digs.  Senior setter Abigail Jarrett had 28 assists and four aces.  Sophomore Kadyn Mehring and Junior Emerson Hoornaert had one stuff block each.  Leading the way for the Hornets in blocks was Senior middle hitter Kari Wolfe with three.

Next up for Carrington will be on Thursday night (Sept. 1) at home against Griggs County Central.  Pre-match will start about 6:45pm, first serve around 7pm on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com.
