N.D. (NewsDakota.com)——-The Harvey-Wells County (H-WC) Hornets spoiled the Carrington Cardinals season and home opener at Stadium ’76, handing the Cards a 12-0 defeat. The Hornets held Carrington to only 98 yards of total offense in the game while putting up 247 yards of there own. Ridge Walker scored twice in the first half to account for all the scoring in the contest. Walker’s first score came with only 12 seconds left in the opening quarter on a 23 yard reception from quarterback Jarrett Anderson.  Walker’s first rushing attempt of the season turned into an 11 yard score on a reverse with 8:03 to play in the first half giving the Hornets the 12-0 win. The Hornets failed to convert on both attempts for a 2-point try after there scores. Walker had a total of 45 yards from scrimmage on 5 touches. Hayden Beck led the Hornets with 113 rushing on 20 attempts and Anderson threw for 79 yards on 7-15 passing.

Carrington sophomore Kaden Wolsky led the Crds with 56 yards rushing on 9 carries and tailback Drew Page added 41 yards on 15 carries. Hayden Schmitz was 4-9 passing for 38 yards filling in for injured quarterback Braxton Hewitt (left in 1st quarter).
