N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown City Administrator Jeff Fuchs has given an update on the fallen trees in both the James River and Pipestem Creek.
It was reported Tuesday that the Army Corps of Engineers had contacted the Jamestown City Council regarding fallen trees in local river channels. The fallen trees would cause future problems if they were not taken care of by the city. City Administrator Fuchs reported that he had included $100,000 for tree cleanup in the 2017 budget, but circumstance would not allow for it.
Fuchs pointed out that a majority of the fallen tress are on private property, which would make it difficult for the city to get to.
Administrator Fuchs did say that if a plan were to be put in place in the future, it would require easements and plan development to remove trees from private properties.
