N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fall time is normally associated with leaves changing colors and school starting back up, but for some in North Dakota, it really kicks off with early hunting season.
The state Game & Fish Department has announced early Canada Goose season, which is slated to begin August 15th in the state. Biologist Doug Leier stated that the early hunting season has been held in the state for nearly 20 years.
This years bag limits and licensing requirements are the same as last year and the season will conclude September 15th. The early Canada Goose season has a limit of 15 daily and 45 in possession. Leier pointed out that the early season will help landowners in the state.
Residents need a $5 Canada Goose licence and non-residents need a $50 early Canada Goose license. The Game and Fish Department is also reminding hunters to check harvested migratory birds for bands this fall and report their findings.
Leier also stated that recent rains in the state have created better fishing in North Dakota.
