N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – One of the Jamestown City Fire Department’s longest serving firefighters will be hanging up his helmet this year after more than 50 years.

Gordie Christianson began serving on the Jamestown Fire Department in 1966 and on August 21st, he’ll be retiring from service. Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther stated that 50 years is a long time for a firefighter and their family.

A retirement open house will be held on Tuesday, August 23rd at the Main Fire Station in Jamestown from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
