CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Police are investigating several thefts within the community.

Police Chief Fred Thompson says officers responded to the 100 block of 8th Street NW Wednesday to the report of a stolen lawn mower.

Investigators say the suspect entered the building, took the owner’s red Toro mower and left the area. Officers noticed a substantial amount of broken glass from the suspects motor vehicle.  Police believe the suspect took the mower and left breaking the vehicle’s windows.

An hour later, Lt. Phil Hatcher saw a white van with the handle of a lawnmower sticking out through the rear glass window.  He says the lawn mower matched the description of the one stolen earlier. Also found inside the van was a second mower, several pieces of electronics and medical equipment were also recovered inside the suspects van.

Police Chief Fred Thompson also reports that a second mower was found inside the van, but it is not known who the mower belongs to. Below is a picture of the second mower found. If it’s yours or you know who it belongs to, contact the police department.

Thompson says a person of interest has been located and Warrant of Arrest was requested for the individual who now has charges of Burglary and Theft from a Motor Vehicle pending against the suspect.

Anyone with questions or reports of stolen property should call the police department at 701-845-3110.
