(NewsDakota.com) – A recent study from WalletHub finds North Dakota to be the third most lenient state when it comes to DUI’s.
WalletHub, a personal finance website, reports that drunk driving results in more than 1 million arrests, nearly 10,000 deaths and over $40 billion in economic damage every year. WalletHub analyzed the enforcement rules in each of the 50 U.S. states and looked at fines, minimum jail sentences and average insurance rate increases after DUI.
North Dakota finished 49th out of the 51 states and districts with a 25.91% total score out of 100. Some of the findings for North Dakota were no minimum sentence for first time convictions, 10 days for second time conviction and fourth offense was an automatic felony.
