N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A lightning strike from Monday night’s storms cause a fire at a rural home South of Jamestown.

According to Stutsman County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist, Monday’s storm dropped a large amount of rain in the area, causing some issues. He pointed out that approximately .75 inches of rain dropped in 15 to 20 minutes and some areas saw over 1 inch in that time.

Bergquist reports that there were winds of up to 60 MPH in the area and several power outages in Southeast part of town. One home in the Southeast was damaged by lightning from the storm.

“Lightning struck nearby a home and tripped the circuit breaker to an unattached garage.” Bergquist stated.

The Jamestown Rural Fire Department responded to the home fire and was able to extinguish it quickly.
