Calvin Brown, 88, Millarton, ND, died July 30, 2016, at his home with his children by his side per his wishes.

Darrel was born January 18, 1928, at his home in Sharlow Township. He was the son of Stephen W. Brown and Ella C. Brown. He grew up in Sharlow Township, ND and attended a country school in Sharlow Township and later attended school in Millarton, ND. He completed his high school education once returning home from the service.

Darrel and Nadine Mortiboy married on August 28, 1950, in Millarton, ND, at the Lutheran Church that is now at the Frontier Village in Jamestown, ND. They farmed in the Sharlow and Severn Township areas and raised their five children. Darrel served in the US Army from January 10, 1950, until his honorable discharge in December, 1952. He was awarded with occupational medals (GER).

He was a lifetime member of the Eagles, Elks, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Darrel enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and golfing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His hobbies included fixing antique International tractors, woodworking, and training teams of horses. He broke many teams of horses and he was teamster for the Fort Seward Wagon Train.

During the winter he spent time in Queen Valley, AZ and Apache Junction, AZ. Following retirement he loved time as a teamster and his teams of horses. For some years he pulled the stage coach at the Frontier Village and did the pony rides and shoot-out skits.

For the past 4 years Darrel has cherished his time at home with his granddaughter, Renee (Jerome) Wimer, who has given him the opportunity to stay in his home until his departure. The companionship between them is one that can never be broken. The sacrifice and love she gave him is immeasurable.

Darrel is survived by his brother, Richard (Bea) Brown, Millarton, ND; sister-in-law, Jean Brown, Jamestown, ND; 4 children, Robyn Brown, Buckeye, AZ, Martin (SuEllen) Brown, Millarton, ND, Nathan (Karen) Brown, Lingle, WY, and Matt (Pam) Brown, Millarton, ND; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Brown; a son, Mark Steven Brown; brothers, Floyd Brown and Vernon (Sible) Brown; and sister Jeraldine (Frank) Marker. The California brothers and sisters include: Valora, Mable, Fred, Stephen W III and Howard; two grandchildren, Shiloh and Wendy Brown and one great-grandchild, Eli Dalton Partlow.

Funeral Service – 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Visitation – 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 1, 2016 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Family will receive guests: 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 1, 2016 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel

Interment – Brown Cemetery, rural Millarton, ND.
