(NEWSDAKOTA.COM)-Valley City Post 60 finished an improbable run to The 2016 Class A Legion Baseball State Championship in dramatic fashion beating Wahpeton Post 20 5-4 in extra innings. After a balk tied the game at 4 in the bottom of the 9th Devin Anderson came to the plate with the bases loaded and drove the ball between 1st and 2nd to bring in the winning run.
Rylee Bjork pitched the 9th inning to record the win. Jesse Johnson did not factor in the decision going 8 innings with 9 strike outs. He was named the tournament MVP .In 2 starts Johnson went 15 innings with 24 strike outs and a win. Johnson was 3-5 Sunday afternoon scoring 3 runs including the game winner. Dalton Ondracek was 3-5 with a double and 2 runs. Anderson was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs . Post 60 collected 9 hits in the game.
Valley City beat Velva,Bismarck, Beulah and Wahpeton twice in route to the state title. They were a perfect 5-0 in tournament play. Post 60 advances to the Central Plains American Legion A baseball tournament August 4-7 in Waupun, Wisconsin
