N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – New Jamestown Public School’s Resource Officer Andrew Staska will be entering his first full year in the position in 2016.

Officer Nick Hardy resigned from the position earlier this year and left the position open after accepting a promotion within the Jamestown Police Department. Staska was tagged to take over the role of Resource Officer following Hardy’s resignation.

Staska said the important detail behind the job was wanting to work with kids.

Staska has also received training for active shooters in schools and public places. His duties will be working with kids and being a connection with the Jamestown Police Department to the school’s. He will also be working with kids and the D.A.R.E. program.

Staska said being the resource officer will require him to be a variety of things for the staff and students.

Staska will be entering his first full year as the School Resource Officer. His office is located inside the Jamestown High School.
