funeral service for Lorraine S. Salberg, Valley City, North Dakota, formerly of Hastings, North Dakota will be 1 pm Sunday, July 31, 2016 at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel.  Burial will be at Spring Creek Cemetery, Hastings.  She passed away Thursday, July 28, at Mercy Hospital, Valley City.

Visitation will be 2-4 pm Saturday at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel and one hour before the service in the chapel.

Lorraine Sylvia Jensen was born February 28, 1925 at Hastings, North Dakota, the daughter of Nels and Hilda (Smedshammer) Jensen.  She attended Blackloam School and graduated from Hastings High School in 1943.  Lorraine was united in marriage to Vernon Salberg on June 30, 1945, in Litchville, North Dakota.  They made their home in Hastings where she cooked at the school and did childcare for many years in family homes.  Lorraine also kept bees for several summers.  For 56 years, she sold the Sunday Fargo Forum.  Vernon died January 12, 1962.

She liked working in her garden and with her flowers.  One of the things she enjoyed most was chatting on the telephone with friends.  Another thing she enjoyed doing was taking pictures.  She had a camera with her most of the time.

Lorraine was a member of Spring Creek Lutheran Church, Hastings, where she was the treasurer for over 30 years and active in the Ladies Aid.

Lorraine is survived by her four children, Larry (Mary) Salberg, Hastings, ND, Darrel (Becky) Salberg, Milnor, ND, Jeannie (Stan) Blom, Kathryn, ND, and Julie Opdahl, Valley City; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, parents, and a sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Alton Roberg.
