N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  After heavy rain on Tuesday night postponed the start of the 2016 State Class B Legion Baseball Tourney on Wednesday, games were able to start Thursday morning at Carrington City Park.  Cleanup crews were out working on the field Wednesday and Thursday morning trying to get the field dried out and ready for the the 14 or 15 games scheduled through Sunday.  On the first day, all the region champs advance to the quarterfinals.  Below are the first day results:

Kindred 4  Kidder County 2

Starting pitcher Brandon Roesler had two hits and picked up the victory on the mound as the Vikings improved to 30-2 overall with the win.  

Thompson 3  Gardner 2

Hazen  1 LaMoure 0

Carrington  4 Park River 1

Braxton Hewitt pitches a complete game victory for Post 25, giving up one run on two hits.  Hewitt at one point in the game retired 10 Park River batters in a row.  Jayden Rosenau was 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI, scored a run and stole a base.  Rosenau also made a nice diving catch in right-center field in the top of the seventh inning.  Post 25 is now 25-5-1, PR Post 147 drops to 29-13.

30 minutes after – Kindred vs. Thompson (quarters) (apprx. 10:45am)

30 minutes after – Carrington vs. Hazen (quarters) (apprx. 1pm)

30 minutes after –  LaMoure vs. Park River (elimination game) (apprx. 315p)

30 minutes after – (semifinal, TBD) (apprx. 6pm)
