FARGO, ND (NewsDakota.Com)-The Valley City Post 60 Legion Baseball Team went 1-2 in their final 3 games of their division tournament to finish as the #2 seed coming out of the east. Friday night Valley City struggled on both offense and defense losing to Wahpeton 11-0 in 6 innings. Justin Manson, Jesse Johnson and Drew Oberlander each recorded base hits for Post 60.

Friday’s loss put them in the noon game against Devils Lake on Saturday. Dalton Ondracek drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 8th for a 9-8 walk off win.  Starter Stephen Brooks went 5 2/3 innings getting a no decision, in relief Sam Jenson had a blown save a got the win. Nate Rodriguez hit a solo home run and finished with 3 RBIs. Ondracek was 3-5 with an RBI. Devin Anderson also drove in a run.

Valley City found themselves on the losing end of a walk off extra inning game falling to Wahpeton 4-3 to finish the tournament. Post 60 had 8 hits with RBIs from Oberlander and  Anderson. Jenson pitched a complete game with 4 strike outs. The win gave Wahpeton Post 20 the championship and the 1 seed.

The state tournament begins Wednesday morning. Post 60 plays in the opener at 11:30 central in Dickinson. Coverage begins at 11:20 on KOVC and NewsDakota.Com
