FARGO,ND (NewsDakota.Com)-Entering The East Division Legion Baseball Tournament Valley City was seeded 8th; now after 2 days and 3 wins Post 60 clinched a berth in the 2016 State Tournament. Behind a complete game from Nate Rodriguez and 7 hits Valley City topped Devils Lake 6-1 to punch their ticket to Dickinson. Jesse Johnson produced a triple and double with 2 RBIs, Sam Jensen also batted 2 runs in and Drew Oberlander plated another to lead the offense for Post 60. Rodriguez collected 10 strike outs with 6 hits. Head coach Lance Lukes says his team is starting to see the pay off for their hard work this season
Valley City has used 4 pitchers over their 3 game run. In 21 innings they have only allowed 4 runs, combined for 25 strike outs and 2 complete games. Lukes says Dawson Dietrich and Rylee Bjork set the tone in game 1
With a spot in state already secured the remainder of the tournament will decide seeding. For Post 60 the focus remains the same
