N.D. (AP) – A Colorado company is seeking the largest wind farm permit in North Dakota history.

The Bismarck Tribune reports Glacier Ridge Wind Farm in Barnes County would generate 300 megawatts of power. It would consist of between 87 and 99 turbines northeast of Valley City.

The application is from a subsidiary of Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc. that hopes to start construction in November. Commercial operation is slated for December 2019. The project needs approval by the state Public Service Commission.

American Wind Energy Association data shows that North Dakota ranked 11th in the nation last year for the number of turbines and installed wind capacity.

Officials earlier this week dedicated a $250 million, 75-turbine wind farm in Rolette County. The Xcel Energy project can produce 150 megawatts of electricity.
