N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Spiritwood Energy Park Association Board met for their quarterly meeting on Tuesday to discuss updates with the Energy Park and potential tenants in the future.
Updates were given on the BNSF heated and automated switch, which has yet to be constructed. Project Manager with Great River Energy Rich Garmin stated that the project has been delayed several times, but that hasn’t hindered operations at Dakota Spirit Ag.
Other updates included the ongoing Wetland Mitigation Plan, which Garmin pointed out will take a few more years, the snow removal and road maintenance contract, and yard walks. CEO of Midwest AgEnergy Group Jeff Zueger stated that they have a planned shutdown for the end of September for preventative maintenance.
Big information was given during the new business portion of the meeting. Garmin reported that there are currently four businesses that are inquiring deeply on potentially locating to the park. They include a Biomass Refinery, a Barley Processing Plant, an Agriculture Bioprocessing Facility and a Medical Supply Manufacturer. Garmin reported that the interest from the medical supplier was intriguing.
Garmin pointed out that each business had just inquired about space, but none have committed yet. He reported that the park has plenty of space to accommodate all four if necessary.
JSDC Executive Director Connie Ova reported that the Barley Processing Plant and Bioprocessing Facility received 100% of their requested APUC grants for feasibility studies.
