CITY,ND (NewsDakota.Com)- Valley City Post 60 traveled to Grafton on Tuesday as a make to game that had been moved a couple times.  On a secondary field and a windy day where the wind was blowing out, it made for an offensive day for both teams.  Post 60 would come out on the loosing end of both games in Grafton, by scores of 19-11 and 12-5.  Valley City would turn around and host the Fargo Jets Wednesday night.  VC would split the 2 games Wednesday night, winning the region game 13-3 and dropping the second game 7-1. 
 
7-12 VC lost to Grafton 19-11
It was an offensive explosion where both teams combined for 30 hits in the contest and 30 runs.  Among those hits was 10 doubles and 4 home runs combine from both teams.  Grafton jumped ahead 10-0 after 2 innings.  After the top of the 4th VC had cut the lead to 10-9.  Grafton would score 9 runs in the next 2 innings where VC would only get 2 runs. 
 
Dalton Ondracek got hit with the loss in the game on the mound.  At the plate Nate Rodriguez lead the way for VC going 3 for 4 with 2 double and home run, while driving in 3 RBI’s.  8 other Post 60 players would pick up hits in the game. 
 
Game 2 VC lost 12-5
In  shortened game due to darkness and no lights VC would drop the game after 5 1/2 innings.  Grafton jumped up 3-0 lead after 1st inning, but after that it was all VC till the bottom of 5th.  VC would get 3 of their out in the third and 1 run in each of then next two innings to hold a 5-3 lead going to bottom of 5th.  That is were Grafton found  their way for 9 runs in the inning.  
 
Tanner Thomsen started on mound for VC and went 4.1 innings giving up 10 runs(3 earned) on 2 hits while walking 8 and striking out 4 and handed the loss.  At the plate Rodriguez stayed on his hot ways on the day going 2 for 3 picking up 2 doubles.
 
Coaches Comments:
“It wasn’t the idealist conditions to play, but both teams had to do it and we just got in to big of hole to get out of early.  It was great to see the fight back in the boys and get it to back to 1 run game.”
“Nate had him self a day at the plate.  Everything he was hitting was hit hard and finding gaps.”
“Tanner there in the second game lost his control there in the 5th.  He was solid up till then and the wheels fell off for him.”

VC beat Fargo Jets 13-3
In the last game at home for the season Valley City came out and left their home field playing one of their better ball games.  VC jumped out to a 1-0 lead after a lead off triple by Justin Manson and 2 batters latter he scored on a sac fly by Jesse Johnson.  The Jets would end up with a 3-1 lead after top of 4th but that is when the VC bats came alive.  VC would get 5 runs in the 4th and 7 in the 6th to end the game due to the mercy rule. 
 
Jesse Johnson got the start on the mound for VC.  Johnson through all 6 innings giving up 3 earned runs on 5 hits while walking 4 and striking out 9 for the win. 
 
At the plate VC was paced  by Manson, Devin Anderson and Tanner Thomsen who each picked up 2 hits.   Thomsen’s hits were both in the final inning as he was inserted as a pinch hitter. Anderson and Rylee Bjork each picked up 2 RBI’s in the game. 
 
Game 2 VC lost 7-1
Fargo picked up 3 runs in 2nd inning and 4 runs in 3rd for all the would need while VC would grab back a run in the 4th inning and that was all the scoring for the Jets 7-1 win. 
 
Coaches Comments:
“We played one of our better games in the past couple weeks tonight.  Johnson worked through a hiccup in the 3rd inning and kept us in distance till our offensive game to us.”
“Anderson and Bjork came through with a couple big hits to help pick us up, which was good to see from couple of our younger guys.”
 
Post 60 record now sits at 11-20 with a 6-8 region record.  Next action for Post 60 will be Friday when they travel to Wahpeton for 5:30 start and then again Saturday when go to Fargo to take on the Jets with 11 am start to end the regular season.
