N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Suicide is a serious topic of conversation. A conversation that is important to have.

The committee “Unite to Silence the Stigma” was formed in 2013 with the hope of raising awareness and distributing help and information to those in need. The seven person committee works to provide information to those who have either lost someone to suicide or know someone suffering. Committee Chairperson Margo Haut states that mental health is a major concern in the state.

Haut stated that the statistics involving suicide in the state in 2014 are alarming.

The committee has used funds raised from their annual “Ride to Silence the Stigma” to help place signs, raise awareness and get information out there for those who need help. Committee member Monte Rodacker says the support has been amazing from local businesses and the annual ride.

The ride will be held on Sunday, July 17th at Stutsman Harley Davidson. Registration will be at 11 AM and the cost for each rider is $25. Additional passengers will cost $10. Funds raised will stay local and also be donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
