Originally, two games were scheduled in Carrington, but the decision was made earlier in the week to move them to Mayville due to wet field conditions in Carrington. Before the game, both teams talked about playing just one game and making it count as two wins because of the light rain falling and more was expected in Mayville. During the top of the fifth inning, the clouds opened up, the players were called into their dugouts and a couple of minutes later the game was called.
Smith retired the first 12 batters he faced and picked up the victory on the mound. Preston Edinger took the loss. Paeper, had a bases clearing triple in the second inning, driving in three runs and scored a run. Hewitt also had a triple, scored a run and an RBI.
