CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) The Community Forestry Council grant of ,000 was approved by the city of Valley City last week.

Valley City Administrator David Schelkoph complimented the efforts of Valley City Beautification Committee president Bobby Koepplin for securing the grant.

The Community Forestry Council will convert 4 acres of unused city property into an outdoor recreation and educational area friendly to pollinator species. The site is along 5th Avenue NE along 9th Street NE in Valley City.

The project includes planting ornamental, nut and fruit trees, shrubs and native flowering plants. A gazebo, rain garden, bridge and walking paths are part of the project too.

The City of Valley City has dedicated the land, will provide access to water, maintaining trash removal, mowing and supply a power source to the gazebo.
