(NewsDakota.com) The Kindred Post 117 American Legion baseball team missed out on a state tournament appearance last season.
In 2016, Kindred is certainly a favorite to advance from the Southeast Region Tournament as they improved to 14-1 after a 7-1 victory against last year’s regional champions Oakes Post 36 on Tuesday night at Cummings Field.
Post 117 erupted for all seven of their runs in the third inning. Brandon Hoyme picked up the win, striking out eight in seven innings of work.
Post 36 (5-10 Class B Southeast Region) saw Grayson Roney lose his third consecutive decision, lasting just two and a third innings, striking out two. Matt Kuipers had two doubles and the lone RBI for Oakes in the defeat.
Oakes’ regular season finale is Wednesday evening in Ellendale against Post 137. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts at 6:45, with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
