N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Investigators have not been able to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed the Equity Co-op Elevator in Sheyenne, North Dakota on June 21st.
Manager John Rick says fire damage made it impossible to find the exact cause of the blaze that started at the top of the main elevator. He says damages are put at over $4 million.
“We got an engineer here right now and a building outfit, Triple E Construciton,” Rick said. “We are definitely going to rebuild. And right now we are focusing on using existing bins right now for this harvest. We will probably do all the rebuilding next spring.”
Rick says about 45,000 bushels of the 200,000 total bushels of grain in the elevator were salvaged after the fire.
