CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) An internal investigation conducted by Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson says Lt. David Swenson did not commit a crime following an allegation that Swenson was drawing hourly wages from three separate revenue streams for the same hours.

Earlier this month, nothing irregular was discovered following an investigation by the Community Service Board concerning a complaint filed by Robert Drake that accused Valley City Police Lt. David Swenson of overlapping his city work hours along with those as the Community Service officer for Barnes County.

Community Service board member and Barnes County State’s Attorney Carl Martineck says even though the amount of hours was excessive nothing irregular was uncovered during the investigation.

Martineck told NewsDakota.com that the Community Service Board will develop a manual on policies and procedures concerning the Community Service Program in the next few months.

Chief Thompson issued a news release concerning the internal investigation of Police Lt. David Swenson on June 29th. Thompson and Valley City Administrator David Schelkoph talked about the investigation with KOVC Radio’s Steve Urness.
