CITY,ND (NEWSDAKOTA.COM)-Valley City Post 60 American Legion baseball team hosted fellow east region opponent Devils Lake Storm Monday night at Charlie Brown Field in Valley City. The two teams each came away from the night with a win a piece. VC would get the win in the region game by score of 8-1 while the Storm would bounce back and pick up the non region game 11-0.
Game 1 VC won 8-1, Region game
Post 60 got themselves a dominate pitching performance on the mound from Nate Rodriguez to pace them in this contest. They would manage to score in 3 of the innings and that was enough as Rodriguez would give up 3 hits and just the 1 run, that game in the top of the 7th. VC would get on the board with a single run in the 3rd. They would add to that in the 5th picking up six runs, and another run in the 6th for their 8 runs.
Rodriguez would throw all 7 innings giving up the 1 unearned run, on 3 hits while walking 5 and striking out 13 in picking up the win.
Rodriguez would also help himself at the plate picking up 2 hits in the contest. Same Jenson would also pick up 2 hits to help the Post 60 offense.

“Nate was on his game tonight. He attacked the hitters and kept after them.”
“Our offense struggled the first couple innings so we had to work to manufacture a couple runs. That seemed to relax the boys and helped with that big 5th inning.”
Game 2 VC lost 11-0
A scheduled 5 inning game was cut short by 10 run mercy rule with Devils Lake ahead 11-0. The Storm would jump up with 4 runs in the first and kept on the scoring in their next 3 times at bat. The Valley City bats went cold into the night as they couldn’t pick u pa hit in the 3 innings of play.
Rylee Bjork was tagged with the loss. Bjork threw 2 innings giving up 10 runs(6 earned) on 8 hits while walking 2 and striking out 3.
Valley City record sits at 4-11 with 2-4 region record.
Next action for VC is Tuesday as they play host to the Fargo Expos in 2 region games, first pitch is 5:30.
