(NewsDakota.com) The Kindred Post 117 American Legion baseball team improved to 5-0 in Class B Southeast Region play after a 4-3 nine inning victory over Oakes Post 36 at Kindred High School Monday evening.

In the bottom of the ninth, right fielder Matthew Nathan reached base on an error with two outs, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored the winning run on a base hit by Evan Waskom. 

Post 36 (1-5) certainly had their chances, stranding a total of 14 runners on base, and runners in scoring position in both the seventh, eight and ninth innings. Oakes had two hits apiece from Ethan Zetocha and Michael Kelly.

Oakes has a quick turnaround as they head to LaMoure on Tuesday night to face Post 19. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts around 7:15, with first pitch around 7:30 p.m.
