N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Fort Seward Wagon Train has become a yearly event that sends people back to a simpler time on the prairie. On Sunday, June 19th they gear up for the 47th journey.
The first ever wagon train set out in 1969, when Mary Young and her Husband organized a historical wagon train that featured history talks, nature lore and camping with genuine canvas-covered wagons.
Trail Boss and Wagon Master Rodney Kluvers of Litchville has been with the wagon train since 1974. He says they have a 75 mile trip planned over the course of this week.
Kluvers pointed out that a person has to enjoy the outdoors and be willing to put in the work to make the wagon train function.
Ten teams of horses will pull the wagons and others will ride their personal horses over the trail. Kluvers stated that the trail changes ones perspective.
The wagon train left Fort Seward early Monday morning and will return later this weekend.
