CITY ,ND (VCSU) – Valley City State University head men’s basketball coach Jeff Kaminsky has accepted the same position at Wayne State College, the school announced today.
Kaminsky worked as head coach at VCSU for the past 11 seasons, compiling a 183-144 record for the Vikings. VCSU went 22-11 last season, advanced to the second round of the NAIA National Tournament, and ended the year ranked No. 21 in the nation.A search for the new head men’s basketball coach at VCSU will begin immediately.
During Kaminsky’s tenure, the Vikings won two conference championships and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament twice. VCSU’s first national tournament appearance under Kaminsky in 2013 ended a 25-year drought and was the fourth appearance in program history. This past season, the Vikings won their first round game at nationals for the second time.
VCSU posted 20-win seasons in five of Kaminsky’s last nine seasons. Players earned NAIA All American honors four times during Kaminsky’s tenure at VCSU.
Wayne State College is an NCAA Division II school in Wayne, Neb. The Wildcats are a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).They finished last season 5-24 overall with a 3-19 mark in conference play.
