N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Both the Jamestown Police Department and Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department are participating in a statewide effort to stop drinking and driving in North Dakota.
Driving while under the influence of alcohol needs to stop and 52 agencies are increasing enforcement to help. Stutsman County Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel White stated that it’s dangerous to consume alcohol and then operate a motor vehicle for many reasons.
White reports that enforcement agencies will be increasing their hours to crack down on those they find drinking and driving. Deputy White states that some of the state statistics involving drinking and driving are alarming.
Deputy White says there are several ways you can help; Don’t drink and drive and if you’ve been drinking, find a sober ride.
Drinking and driving is a misdemeanor offense and could result in a $500 fine and jail time. Visit ndcodefortheroad.org for more information.
