funeral service for Wendy G. Washek, 57, Fargo, North Dakota will be 10 am Saturday, June 18 at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City, North Dakota.   She died Monday, June 6, 2016 at Villa Maria, Fargo.

Wendy Gay Washek was born June 2, 1959 in Valley City, the daughter of Adolph Cornelius and Lila Fern (Tokle) Haugen.  She was raised on a farm near Litchville, North Dakota.  Wendy attended and graduated as co-salutatorian from Litchville High School.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree from VCSU and went on to obtain her Master of Science.   She made her home in Ashley, North Dakota where she worked for McCleary Lumber as a bookkeeper for 13 years.  Wendy then moved to Fargo which led to her starting work as a legal secretary for the Clay County Public Defender’s office.  She remained there until her illness forced her to take medical leave.

What Wendy enjoyed most was spending simple times with her two grown children and her three grandchildren. She took annual mother-daughter trips which included Graceland and Lake George (NY).  Wendy and her son enjoyed the movies. To her joy, she also kept quite busy with the grandkids.  In her alone time, Wendy was a bookworm and fan of brain teasers (Sudoku, Mensa, etc).

Wendy is survived by her children, Jordana (David) Choate, Kindred, North Dakota, and Joe Washek (Kelsey Hagen), Alexandria, Minnesota; and her four grandchildren, Caris, Lucas, Jack Choate, and Wyatt Hagen.  She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Fern Haugen, Ashley, ND, Shelley (Lonny) Zeadow, Bozeman, MT, Mitchell (Ronda) Haugen, Olympia, WA and Clay (Pam) Haugen, Litchville, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Mark.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel.  An on-line guestbook is available at www.olivernathanchapel.com.
