N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Linton man who was found dead at a Jamestown business March 31st died from an overdose to furanyl fentanyl.

The state forensic medical examiner reports that 28 year-old Travis Burgad was found dead in the bathroom of a Jamestown business. Police were called after Burgad was found passed out in the bathroom and not breathing. When emergency crews arrived, Burgad was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dr. William Massello reports that Burgad had a history of drug abuse. He was recently released from a drug rehabilitation facility.

“His full postmortem examination revealed findings consistent with death as the result of an alcohol and/or drug overdose. This was confirmed by postmortem toxicology studies that confirmed the presence of a potent derivative of the opioid drug fentanyl.” Dr. Massello reports.

Other things found in his system include Continine, Nicotine, Caffeine, Theobromine, and Alprazolam. Fentanyl has become a popular and rising drug in the state of North Dakota.

The Stutsman County Coroner and Jamestown Police Department are continuing the investigation.
