CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Hi-Liners’ softball team made their 4th trip to the Class A State Tournament the most memorable in the program’s short history. Valley City defeated Jamestown 4-2 in game 1 to get the programs 1st tournament win and after a loss to eventual state champion West Fargo beat Shanley 8-2 to claim 3rd place. Sophomore Kacee White says the support they received from the community was a rallying point for the Hi-Liners.

Valley City softball loses 3 seniors from their year’s squad including pitcher Tarryn Justesen who was a finalist for ND Class A Senior Athlete of The Year and a member of the All State Team. Justesen owns a majority of the wins for the programs and though her contributions will be hard to match head Coach Jason Lindgren expects his young team to continue building a winning tradition.

A majority of the Hi-Liner fast pitch team will continue playing softball right into the summer taking part in several tournaments. Sophomore McKenna Taylor says there is definitely one aspect of the game that the team is looking to improve on this offseason.

The Hi-Liners’ final record was 17-12. For West Fargo their state win marks their 19th in a row.
