CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) A man wanted on a search warrant was arrested in Valley City after police called in the Stutsman/Barnes County SWAT team to help make the arrest on Saturday, June 4th.
The 38 year-old Shelton Amar Ard was inside an apartment along 8th Avenue and 4th Street Southwest. Valley City Police evacuated about 20 nearby residents and then made several calls on a public address system in a squad car to have the man come out peacefully. Ard came out out the apartment with his hands up in the air and was arrested without incident.
Police Chief Fred Thompson says Ard faces a number of charge including possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia after officers recovered drug related items inside the apartment Ard was in following the arrest.
Ard was wanted on a warrant for felony drug charges and failure to serve a 30 day jail sentence which was featured in a Warrant Wednesday story published last month.
Several law enforcement agencies assisted in the arrest including deputies from Stutsman and Barnes County as well as officers from the Valley City and Jamestown Police Departments.
