(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School baseball team ended their four game Class B Region I losing skid with a 3-1 victory Monday at Hendrickson Field in Enderlin against the Falcons of Enderlin/Maple Valley.
The Tornadoes, who hadn’t won a regional game since late April, capitalized on mistakes made by the Falcons (7-4 Class B Region I). Grayson Roney scored on a wild pitch in the third inning, and then scored, along with Ethan Zetocha, on a throwing error in the top of the seventh.
Michael Kelly earned the win on the mound, going all seven inning while striking out 10, bringing his season total in strikeouts to 65. Zander Bauer registered a triple, and Kollen Kuntuson picked up a double in the victory.
Oakes (5-6) plays their regular season finale Tuesday at Kindred/Richland. The Tornadoes defeated the current first place team in the region 6-0 back on April 23 at Cummings Field. Coverage from Kindred starts at 4:45 p./m., with first pitch around 5 p.m. on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com.
